A holiday tradition that was once a staple of the Avalon winter is returning this year. The Open House at Mt. Ada will once again offer a chance for community members to gather for live music, treats and fellowship, all while helping raise money for local service organizations that serve Catalina.

The event is set for Dec. 2, from 2 to 6 p.m. Hosted by the Catalina Island Foundation, the event will raise money for two local groups, the Avalon Rotary Club and the Catalina Island Women’s Forum. There will be a raffle with several items, and a silent auction for pottery pieces from the Rivkin Collection that will be available for bidding.

The live musical performances will be by Avalon student members of the Jazz Angels, who will be performing some holiday tunes for the occasion. Also performing will be one of Catalina’s favorite bands, The Isleños. Visitors will also be able to tour the iconic inn, including some of the rooms.

“They’re a great local band … people are very excited to see them,” organizer Maria Leyva said.

The admission is $10 per person and a shuttle van will be transporting guests to the Inn, from the Tour Plaza, from 2 to 6 p.m. The Circuit Shuttle haws also donated 400 free rides to the event. Guests can arrange the free ride through the Circuit App, and by using the code: ADA, to schedule a free ride. The event is for ages 14 and older. Presale tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Center on the Green Pier.
