One year anniversary for Catalina’s Overlook Hall

As one of Avalon’s premier venues for special events, Overlook Hall marked its first anniversary as a special events venue on June 1.
This milestone was made extra special by its hosting of a media crew of creative professionals working on Bud Light’s Up for Whatever event.
Buzzing with energy, Overlook Hall was transformed into a round-the-clock media center for a solid week before and during the festivities.

Filling the Hall were innovative storytellers from Contend, a leading media company producing promotional content for Bud Light’s upcoming advertising campaign.
“We were delighted to accommodate Contend’s busy schedule and hope the results of their creative work will generate enormous attention for Catalina Island nationwide,” said Anna Dira, Overlook Hall’s new marketing director.
In addition to the most recent booking, Overlook Hall has played host to numerous corporate meetings, weddings, anniversaries, lectures, and awards ceremonies over the last year.  Apart from the Bud Light  event, highlights of the year have included Community Movie Nights to benefit local civic groups, monthly presentations by the Avalon Film Club, and various art exhibitions.
With many more exciting initiatives planned for the upcoming year, Overlook Hall is well on its way to becoming the center of Avalon’s community-based gatherings and events.
“We have the deepest appreciation for the incredible historic significance of the Overlook Hall,” said Dira. “Presented as a gift to the town of Avalon by Mrs. Ada Wrigley, the hall originally served as a Christian Science church for more than 70 years.”
First opened in 1929, Overlook Hall underwent a two-year restoration beginning in 2010 that brought back to life all of its original Florentine beauty. Featuring a majestic brick façade, open beam ceiling, original Douglas fir flooring, classic windows with iron details, and a sweeping outside deck facing the Pacific, Overlook Hall is certainly one of the historic gems of Avalon.
With a fully landscaped façade and a central location steps from Avalon’s finest hotels, Overlook Hall is ideal for weddings, corporate meetings, reunions, commemorative events, art shows, and more. For more information, visit our website at www.overlookhall.
