Meet Diana Johnson, nurse practitioner

Nurse Practitioner Diana Johnson always wanted to “live on an island.”

An Eastern religion professor in college challenged her to choose a career in which she could show the “greatest compassion”—and that introspection inspired her to pursue medicine.

Nurse Practitioner Diana Johnson always wanted to “live on an island.”

An Eastern religion professor in college challenged her to choose a career in which she could show the “greatest compassion”—and that introspection inspired her to pursue medicine.

After graduating from Cal State Long Beach in 2007 with her degree in nursing, this Torrance native went on to UCLA to get her nurse practitioner’s license.  She thought about moving to Hawaii but after getting married decided to remain closer to home.

What about Catalina? Johnson searched for job prospects and found an opening at Catalina Island Medical Center that became a “perfect fit.”  Johnson has been working on the island for eight months and sees patients at the Medical Center’s Medical Group Office every Monday and Tuesday until 7 p.m.  She also covers shifts for other medical providers as needed. When not working she spends time at home with her husband Don and their two dogs.

Johnson loves to surf and cook.  She also appreciates the “sense of community” in Avalon. “I enjoy getting to know my patients and seeing them around town.”  Johnson is a great asset to the Medical Center Healthcare team.

For an appointment at Catalina Island Medical Center’s Medical Group Office please call 310-510-0096.  Clinic hours are Monday and Tuesday 8 am to 7 pm, Wednesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Emergency room facilities are always available at 100 Falls Canyon Road.

CIMC’s mission is to provide quality healthcare to each individual and improve the overall healthcare of our community.
