Nevin Wayne Stout was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in Sunnyvale, California. In 1954 he married his sweetheart Doreen and they had three children. In 1964 they moved to Catalina Island where he served for several years as the manager of the Chamber of Commerce.

He later worked as business manager for Toyon Boy’s School, a tour bus driver and tour guide for the Catalina Island Company, and as a scuba diving instructor. He eventually purchased Tom Cat’s Liquor Store which he ran for 20 years.

In 1990 he sold the store and retired, splitting his time between island life and desert life, having a home in Palm Desert as well as on the island. Wayne enjoyed his years of retirement with travel around the world as well as weekly golf, tennis, and pickle ball. He was taken from us too soon as was his oldest son Rick.

He is survived by his wife, Doreen, his daughter, Leslie, his son, Chris and grandchildren, Briana, Camille, Summer and Skye. He will be greatly missed. If you would like to donate to the American Cancer Society in his name it would be much appreciated. A private memorial service will be held in his honor on Friday, Nov. 16. All are invited to visit with the family afterward at the Sand Trap from 1 to 3 p.m.
