Local stories at Museum in September

During the month of September, the Catalina Island Museum for Art and History is bringing back some annual events, as well as some local history.

The Summer Documentary Series returns with the film about local residents Jani Eisenhunt and Jay Guion. The film tells the story of them and their families, along with their rich connection to the island over the years. Oktoberfest celebration also returns, as well as other movie screenings.

Summer Documentary Series: Jani and Jay

Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.

Join us for the final installment of our Summer Documentary Series, featuring films from the Catalina Story Project. The first honors Jani Eisenhut, whose island journey began in the Casino. The second celebrates Jay Guion, whose family legacy includes Joe’s Rent-a-Boats, central to the island since 1927.

Free for members, $5 for non-members.

Doors open at 7 p.m.; the showing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Oktoberfest at Catalina Museum

Friday, September 27 at 6–9 p.m.

Celebrate Oktoberfest with The Hammerstein Band, known for their lively polka rock, as they lead the traditional Schnitzelbank sing-along. Guests can enjoy bratwursts and German beer while dressing in their best Bavarian attire.

Tickets: $30 for members, $35 for non-members, $15 for children ages 3-15.
