The Avalon girls soccer team went into its holiday break with an 8-0 win over Brethren Christian on Dec. 20, at Brethren Christian in Huntington Beach.
The Lancers improved to 4-4 overall as team co-captain Grace Hobbs scored three goals and had three assists. Two of the team’s other co-captains, Stephanie Martinez and Gisselle Rodriguez each had two goals and Martinez added two assists.
Freshman, Alexis Smith added the final goal. Nalley Pedroza had an assist and goal keeper Briana Peguero had three saves. The Lancers are off until Jan. 9, when they will again travel to the mainland to take on Samueli Academy in a game that is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Their next home game will be on Jan. 15, at 3 p.m. against Tarbut V’ Torah.
