Museum hopes to see you in your best ugly Christmas sweater
Tis the season for celebration. The Catalina Island Museum invites you to its Holiday Edition of First Fridays at the Museum. This festive evening is full of family fun including photos with Santa, story time with Mrs. Claus, an art project for all ages and more. The holiday celebration takes place on Friday, Dec. 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Kick off the holidays at the museum with caroling by the Jingle Singers, enjoy a custom Catalina inspired ice sculpture created by Long Beach Ice, decorate an ornament for your tree or to give as a gift, take a family photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus and enjoy fantastic deals in the Museum Store. Also, don’t miss story time with Mrs. Claus at 7:30 pm.
The Jingle Singers, the evening’s carolers, have been harmonizing together since 1987. They regularly perform throughout Southern California. Dressed in elegant Dickens attire, these accomplished singers will roam around the museum during the event spreading good cheer and the spirit of Christmas in revelers of all ages. This group will also perform the following day during Shop Catalina hosted by the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.
Festive dress is encouraged. The museum hopes to see you in your best ugly Christmas sweater, favorite holiday character or your wintery best.
The museum’s galleries, digital theater and Museum Store are open each month during First Fridays at the Museum. The evening also offers a great opportunity to explore the museum’s current special exhibitions Wrigley’s Catalina: A Centennial Celebration, Esther Williams: The Swimming Queen of the Silver Screen and Elizabeth Turk: Tipping Point.
