Lazaro Silva from the maintenance team reads every Island Company water meter on a weekly basis and provides the meter readings to Ofelia Gonzalez, administrative assistant, who inputs the data into a water usage spreadsheet.

Gonzalez then notifies managers, supervisors and tenants of exactly where they stand in the use of their department’s water allotment on a weekly basis.

The Island Company has decreased its water usage overall by 50.5 percent since August 2014, which equates to 5,604,961 gallons.
