The Catalina Kids Fishing Derby came down to the wire on July 17. The 19 anglers were hooking up everywhere and the winning number of fish caught was reeled in in the final minute. The Anglers came from Boise Idaho, Newport, Chino Hills, Santa Ynez, and our own Avalon. 157 fish were caught and 6 fish were big enough to keep. The winners were:
Biggest Fish 10 and under:
1. 15.5” – Austin Amoroso, Newport CA
2. 13 ¼” – Jacklyn Fansler, Avalon CA
3. 13” – Mason Dominguez, Avalon CA and Saylor Castiglione, Coronado CA
Biggest Fish 11 and over:
1. 14 ½ ” – Aaron Rickard, Chino Hills CA
2. 12 ¾ ” – Slater Bray, Boise ID
3. 12 ½ ” – Allie, Los Angeles, CA
