It was an honor to participate in this week’s candidate forum in Avalon wherein I had the opportunity to meet so many Islanders. Although Catalina Island faces many challenges, the diversity of the ideas offered this week by all of the candidates is reason enough to be encouraged.
While on the island, my visit to the Catalina Island museum reinforced my perception of an incredible history, breathtaking beauty and a unique culture that could only have developed within the bounds of this very special island community.
This was not my first trip to Catalina but perhaps the first when I began to feel the hardy spirit of the Islanders. There is much more to know, for sure, but our goal is to remain deeply embedded into the life of Catalina.
We will tell the stories of Catalina as it is today and work together in every way we can to make it a better place tomorrow. Thank you to the Catalina Chamber for the opportunity to collaborate on the forum and to all the people I’ve met on Catalina Island for the wonderful welcome.
