January 20 

An Avalon resident contacted deputies at the Sheriff’s Station and stated he was the victim of fraud.  The victim attempted to purchase a vehicle on Craigslist.  During the negotiations the victim wired a $2000 deposit to the seller in order for him to hold the vehicle.  Once the victim wired the money the suspect turned off his cell phone and has not communicated with the victim.  The case is currently under investigation.

January 20 

Deputies responded to a disturbance call on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue.  The caller stated he was assaulted by a drunk male who had thrown a water bottle at his face.  The deputies conducted an investigation and ultimately the victim placed the suspect under private person’s arrest for battery and trespassing.  The suspect was booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.

January 21

Deputies were contacted at the Sheriff’s Station by an adult who stated he was having problems with his ex-wife.  The deputies advised the informant of the restraining order procedures and to contact the family law courts regarding child custody issues.

January 22

Deputies received a disturbance call on the 500 block of Avalon Canyon Road involving a boyfriend and girlfriend.  The informant stated his girlfriend was arguing with him and he wanted to retrieve his personal items from their home.  The deputies conducted an investigation and determined no crime had been committed.  The deputies escorted the boyfriend to the house where he retrieved his property.

January 22

Deputies responded to a vandalism report call on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue.  The victim stated 2 male adults punched the window on her golf cart and broke it.  The case is currently under investigation.

January 23

Deputies responded to a disturbance call at 1 Cabrillo Mole.  The caller stated a male adult was drunk at the location and he was upset after being ejected from the boat.  The deputies conducted an investigation and determined the suspect was drunk in public and unable to care for himself.  He was arrested and booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.

January 23

Deputies responded to a disturbance call at 1 Cabrillo Mole.  The caller stated a male adult was upset with staff.  The deputies contacted a male adult who stated he was involved in an argument with staff and was not allowed on the boat.  The disturbing party was cooperative with deputies.

January 24

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Descanso Avenue regarding a neighbor disturbance.  The deputies determined the neighbors were arguing over golf cart parking.  The neighbors were warned regarding their behavior and were cooperative.

Deputies responded to a person acting suspiciously at “Cat Harbor”.  The deputies contacted a male adult and determined he was a photographer getting prepared to shoot a surprise engagement.

Deputies responded to a family disturbance call on the 100 block of Clarissa Avenue.  The caller stated her ex-husband was drunk and banging on the windows.  The deputies contacted the male and determined he was under the influence of alcohol.  The suspect was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.  He was booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.

January 26

Deputies responded to Canyon Terrace Road in order to assist a male with a restraining order against his wife.  The deputies contacted the male and reviewed his paperwork.  They advised the man how to proceed with service of the letter and enforcement.
