Coyote Joe’s, Straight Up Builders, Chet’s advance in playoffs

It’s tournament time, which means the CoEd softball season is heading to a close. Before the end though we had some great games! Game one featured Bravo’s Landscaping and Coyote Joe’s.

Bravo’s Landscaping was up first, and Justin Hernandez opened the game with a double. A base hit and two walks later a run came home, but bases were left loaded. Coyote Joe’s took their turn at bat and four base hits and a double from J.D. Laflin brought home three runs.

Bravo’s Landscaping tied it up in the second with two runs off two base hits, an error, and a sacrifice fly. Top of three and Coyote Joe’s turned a double play to end the inning. Taking that momentum into the bottom of the inning, Coyote Joes Ben Guzman hit a double. Two errors and three base hits later, three more runs crossed the plate.

In the bottom of the fourth Coyote Joe’s had a run score off a base hit and doubles from Ben Guzman and Enrique Bravo. Top of five, and Bravo’s Landscaping had a run score off the double from Alex Herrera. An error had two on when Tyler Engel came up to bat and hit a game tying three-run home run. With time expired Coyote Joe’s got their last at bat. A walk and two base hits brought home the walk off run for the victory. Final score Bravo’s Landscaping 7, Coyote Joe’s 8.

For Bravo’s Landscaping Justin Hernandez and Tyler Engel were two for two. Alex Herrera also had two hits. Marcus Watts, Juan Pablo Bravo, Diana Rios and Leah Quarnstrom collected one hit.

For Coyote Joes Francisco Bravo, Ben Guzman, Enrique Bravo and Ron Bevins were three for three. J.D. Laflin, Jorge Leon, Rachel Mc Cormick and Alexandria Tran contributed one hit.

Game two was between Lobster Trap and Straight Up Builders. Lobster Trap was up to bat first and used three base hits to score a run. Straight Up Builders answered with a double from Stephen Marcy, followed by an inside the park home run from Ryan Hinkley. Brandon Franco followed with an inside the park home run, for a total of three runs.

Lobster Trap tied it up in the top of the third with two runs off three base hits. Straight Up Builders brought four runs home in the bottom of the inning. Uriel Castillo opened with a double. Three base hits followed, then a triple from Ryan Hinkley and a triple from Brandon Franco. A great throw from left center to home caught him when he was trying to stretch it for a home run for the last out of the inning.

Straight Up Builders added another run to their lead in the bottom of the fourth when Jim Hinkley hit a double and later scored. In the bottom of fifth Straight Up Builders got two more runs off the double from Brandon Franco. In the sixth inning with Straight Up Builders up to bat, time expired. The game ended with the score Lobster Trap 3, Straight Up Builders 10.

For Lobster Trap Weston Leonhardi collected two hits. With one hit each were Jose Octavo, Mario Jimenez, Joe Talsky, Paul Daniel Romo, Kyle Ostentoski, Efrain Moreno, Margery Williams, Christy Alegria Flynn and Liza Vahai.

The final game was another close contest between Hamilton Cove Real Estate and Chet’s Hardware. Hamilton Cove Real Estate was up first, and Robert Reyes opened with a double. A walk and three base hits followed for two runs. Marco Gallegos made an amazing catch to deny Marisa Morones a base hit. Chet’s Hardware answered back with two runs off a double from Marco Gallegos and three base hits.

Chet’s Hardware took the lead in the bottom of the second with a three RBI home run from Marco Gallegos. Hamilton Cove Real Estate took the lead back in the top of the third when Robert Reyes collected two RBIs off his inside the park home run. A double from Nick Morones, a walk and two errors brought home three more runs, for a total of five.

Chet’s Hardware tied it up in the bottom of the inning with two runs off two errors, a double from Tino Rodriguez and a base hit. Chet’s Hardware took the lead in the fourth when Sebastian Sanchez hit a home run. Selina Morones hit a double, but was left at second.

Hamilton Cove Real Estate took the lead back in the fifth when four base hits and a walk brought home three. Chet’s Hardware battled back to tie it in the bottom of the inning when a walk and three base hits scored two. With time expired the game went into an extra inning. Marco Gallegos again showed his range when he caught the sure to be extra base hit from Aimee Casillas to hold Hamilton Cove Real Estate scoreless. Sebastian Sanchez opened the bottom of the inning for Chet’s Hardware with a base hit. A base hit from Briana Morones scored the speedy Sebastian for the walk off win. Final score Hamilton Cove Real Estate 10, Chet’s Hardware 11.

For Hamilton Cove Real Estate Robert Reyes and Leo Aguilar were three for three. Nick Morones, Gabriel Alvarado, Luis Lazzaro, Carlos Martinez, Gustavo Augilar, Reed Woodyard, Maria Reyes and Aimee Casillas all contributed one hit.

For Chet’s Hardware Sebastian Sanchez was four for four. Selina Morones and Marco Gallegos collected three hits. Rolando Gonzalez, Tino Rodriguez, Alex Romero and Briana Morones had two hits. Juan De La Cruz and Andres Garcia contributed one hit.
