Eric’s on the Pier faced off against Coyote Joe’s in game one. Robert Reyes got the scoring started for Eric’s on the Pier with his inside the park home run. A walk was followed by the two RBI home run from Brandon Franco.
Coyote Joe’s answered back with a two RBI home run from Juan De La Cruz. Francisco Bravo hit a double, but was left stranded at third. Coyote Joe’s took the lead in the bottom of the third with two runs scored off doubles from Ron Bevins and J.D. Laflin and an error.
The lead returned to Eric’s on the Pier in the fourth when three runs came home off a triple from Robert Reyes, a double from Brandon Franco and two base hits. Coyote Joe’s tied it up in the bottom of the inning with two runs home off a single and doubles from Francisco Bravo and Hugh Bevins. Christy Alegria made a great catch behind the plate to help end the threat.
Coyote Joe’s turned an error into a run in the bottom of the fifth. Eric’s on the Pier had back-to-back doubles from Beto Martin and Robert Reyes, followed by a triple from Brandon Franco to score three and regain the lead. In the bottom of the inning Coyote Joe’s used a base hit, doubles from Francisco Bravo and Sean Sterling, and a triple from Hugh Bevins to bring home four.
With their last at bat, Eric’s on the Pier wasn’t able to produce any runs, and the game ended with the score Eric’s on the Pier 9, Coyote Joe’s 11.
For Eric’s on the PIer, Robert Reyes, Brandon Franco and Joe Talsky were three for three. Kyle Ostentoski contributed two hits. Beto Martin, Javier Jimenez, Manny Martinez, Viktor Martinez, Edmundo Vega and Marisol Perez all collected one hit.
For Coyote Joe’s, J.D.Laflin and Francisco Bravo were three for three. Juan De La Cruz, Kenton Efhan and Hugh Bevins collected two hits. With one hit each were Sean Sterling, Ron Bevins and Victor Moreno.
Game two featured Straight Up Builders and Catalina Express. Catalina Express got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with three base hits, a sacrifice fly, doubles from Tyler Engel and Leo Aguilar, and a triple from Reed Woodyard to bring home five.
Straight Up Builders got on the board in the third with four runs off two base hits, a walk, and doubles from Alex Romero and Selina Morones. Catalina Express answered with back to back home runs from Allan Casillas and Tyler Engel. Catalina Express added another run in the fourth off the triple from Reed Woodyard, who scored off the double from Steven Marcy.
Catalina Express kept pouring it on in the sixth. This time eight runs came home off five base hits, two errors, a double from Nestor Cubillas, and a three RBI inside the park home run from Reed Woodyard. Straight Up Builders’ Selina Morones got an RBI off her double in the sixth.
Catalina Express kept the pressure on with back to back doubles from Joe Hernandez and Nestor Cubillas. Two base hits later, Tyler Engel collected three RBIs from his homerun. Time expired, and the game ended with the score Straight Up Builders 5, Catalina Express 20.
For Straight Up Builders, Elias Romero was two for two. Also with two hits were Jose Cuevas, Bart Glass and Selina Morones. Chuy Sillas, Alex Romero and Briana Morones contributed one hit. For Catalina Express, Allan Casillas and Tyler Engel were four for four. Reed Woodyard and Steven Marcy were three for three. Nestor Cubillas also had three hits. Joe Hernandez, Leo Aguilar and Stephanie Martinez contributed two hits. Santiago Martinez and LeeAnn Little had one hit.
