“We are stewards of a historic Avalon icon and are committed to the preservation of the 101 year old structure. Part of our responsibility is to maintain the Catalina Island Yacht Club building as befits a world recognized yacht club,” Mary Haller, current Club Commodore, said.
Under the direction of House Chairman and Club Director Kirk Macinnis and his wife Maureen, the club has retained Connolly-Pacific to replace and restore a number of wasted pilings supporting the club understructure. This required shutting the facility down for the winter. It is hoped the clubhouse will be fully repaired for the upcoming summer season.
Responsible for the restoration project are Connolly-Pacific Vice President Michelle Finegold and Avalon City employees Bob Greenlaw CIP, Peter Lim, Avalon City Building Inspector, Donna Romo, Senior Administrative Assistant and Kevin Schmidt, Avalon Harbor Master.
“These people are crucial to the successful completion of our restoration project in a timely manner,” said House Chairman Kirk Macinnis.
