Church Mouse returns for party

It’s not a fishing tournament and it’s just for fun.

They have an Avalon legacy built on a beloved event that has already gone into the sunset.

Bob and Carol Butte, who organized the Church Mouse marlin-fishing tournament for more than 25 years, retired the event after their final season last year.

However, the Butte’s could not keep away from doing something to continue raising money for the youth of Avalon. Besides, they said, it was where they found their fun – and they got to raise a ton of money to finance the dreams of Avalon youth.

Therefore the Buttes will hold the first party of the Church Mouse Club from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 25, at the M Restaurant on Crestview.

The Buttes promise there will be “No whistles, no prizes, and no trophies, just a fun time to get together, for a reunion of friends,” they said

They said there will be koozies and Church Mouse Club flags.

The fee is $50 cash at the door and includes dinner, koozie, and flag.

“Come share stories and pie Brian Bray for a 100 ft mooring and hopefully still make some money for the youth of Avalon,” the Buttes said.
