Church celebrates ‘Packy’s Van’

Avalon Community Church is happy to announce it has received a new Sprinter van to serve the ministries of Avalon’s churches and the needs of our community.

Prior to his passing, God moved on the heart of Packy Offield to approach us with an offer to buy us a new van so we could “keep taking kids into the interior for the next 20 years.” Packy was passionate both about Catalina Island and Catalina’s Kids.

He was a supporter of the TeenCenter since its inception and believed that the work of the TeenCenter was a positive part of the lives of many kids. With the permission of Packy’s children, we have named the van “Packy’s Packer.” Although Packy was never one to take credit, they agreed that this was an appropriate tribute to the spirit in which the gift was given.

We are thankful for this good-hearted man with his heart in the Lord’s hands.

We thank the Lord for this gift and celebrate that today Packy stands with Jesus to see the pleasure of His people enjoying His good and gracious gifts!
