25th Annual Key Conservancy Event Goes Virtual April 10

The Catalina Island Conservancy is inviting the community to join its milestone 25th Annual Conservancy Ball on April 10. The 2021 Catalina Island Conservancy Ball – Under the Stars – will be a completely virtual experience for the first time.

This year’s virtual event will mark a quarter century of celebrating ‘under the stars’ while raising essential funds for the Conservancy’s vital conservation, education and recreation programs. The evening promises to be a new experience, though will be filled with familiar faces, music and fun. In addition to new interactive activities including Catalina Island trivia, attendees will be able to participate in classic Ball activities like the popular silent and live auctions.

“We are excited to provide an opportunity for those who love Catalina Island to participate in the Conservancy Ball safely from the comfort of their homes,” said Catalina Island Conservancy President and CEO Tony Budrovich. “Though many things are different about this year’s Ball, what remains the same is that funds raised support the Conservancy’s critical conservation, education and recreation programs on Catalina Island.”

The main event will take place on April 10 and will be an interactive and engaging broadcast with various ways to participate for all levels of supporters of the Conservancy and Catalina Island. In order to participate, attendees must register online. Virtual tickets to the broadcast are complimentary and include opportunities to bid in the auction and more. Virtual+ tickets are $150 and include a dinner kit available for pick-up the afternoon of the Ball from any Bluewater Grill restaurant. Individual sponsorships and corporate partnerships are also available.

“We hope you are able to join us in your black tie and board shorts, or ball gown and bunny slippers, for an entertaining evening celebrating this wonderful Island and all of the experiences it offers,” said Budrovich. “Catalina feels like a different Island at night, with unparalleled stargazing opportunities that are not to be missed. We look forward to celebrating this unique aspect of the Island with you.”

Over the past 24 years, the Conservancy Ball has helped to raise a net of more than $7.6 million dollars which all directly supports the Conservancy’s conservation, education and recreation programs. Like many other non-profit organizations, the effects of the pandemic have greatly affected us – and will continue to through 2021. Supporting the Conservancy through this program helps us to keep Catalina Island beautiful and accessible for boaters, hikers and nature lovers for generations to come.

This 25th Anniversary celebration has kicked off with the launch of our Conservancy Challenge – a peer-to-peer fundraising challenge to support the Conservancy. Individuals can make a donation on their own or support their team in a friendly competition. Each team that raises at least $6,000 by March 1 will earn their own private virtual table to use during the Ball on April 10. Donations of any amount are welcome.
