Catalina Story Project Film Screening: Jay Guion

The community is invited to join the Catalina Museum for Art & History in celebrating Jay Guion’s birthday and the premiere of their sixth Catalina Story Project documentary at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the museum’s Ackerman Family Amphitheater, set beneath the starry Catalina sky.

This documentary offers a profound exploration of the life of Jay Guion, a prominent figure in Catalina’s history. Through the eyes of the island’s long-standing residents, you’ll gain a unique perspective on the rich history of Catalina Island. This year’s documentary takes you on a captivating journey back to the early 1900s, focusing on Joe’s Rent-a-Boats on the Pleasure Pier since 1927, allowing you to delve into the remarkable history of the Guion family and their enduring impact on Catalina Island. In the spirit of nostalgia and to honor the island’s heritage, guests are encouraged to wear their best Joe’s Rent-a-Boat attire. It’s a wonderful way to pay tribute to the island’s unique past.
