The start of the second round of CoEd Softball began with Catalina Realtors taking on Coyote Joe’s. Catalina Realtors was up first, and used five base hits to score three. Coyote Joe’s answered back with two runs off a base hit, a walk and a double from Ryan Hinkley.
Catalina Realtors added another three runs in the second off two base hits and doubles from Joe Hernandez and Robert Reyes. Coyote Joe’s kept pace, with three runs off four base hits and an error. Anthony Hernandez hit a double for Catalina Realtors in the third, but was left at second.
Catalina Realtors brought home two more runs off the two RBI home run from J.D. Laflin. Teagan Machado made a great catch at second to deny Ryan Hinkley the extra base hit and end the Coyote Joe’s threat. Catalina Realtors added four more insurance runs in the fifth when Anthony Hernandez hit a three RBI home run, followed by the solo home run from Ryan Adkins.
Alex Romero hit a double, but was left at second. Coyote Joe’s couldn’t get any offense going in the bottom of the inning, and the game ended with the score Coyote Joe’s 5, Catalina Realtors 12.
For Coyote Joe’s Gilbert Hernandez, Ryan Hinkley and Francisco Bravo all contributed two hits. Eliu Alvarez, Gustavo Gutierrez, Maria Reyes and Diana Rios all collected one hit.
For Catalina Realtors Anthony Hernandez was three for three. Joe Hernandez, Ryan Adkins, Alex Romero, J.D. Laflin and Maddie Hiniker all collected two hits. Robert Reyes, Rachel Mc Cormick and Aimee Casillas all had one hit.
Game two of the night featured Catalina Express and Hamilton Cove Real Estate. Catalina Express was up first and put three runs on the board off doubles from Marco Gallegos, Margery Williams, Luis Lazaro and a triple from Stephanie Martinez. Hamilton Cove Real Estate answered with two runs off the home run from Nick Morones. Jose Octavo hit a double for Catalina Express in the second, but was left there.
Hamilton Cove Real Estate took the lead with four runs off a walk, two base hits, and the two RBI home run from Julian Tejeda. Hamilton Cove Real Estate kept the pressure on with two more runs in the third thanks to the two RBI home run from Phil Lopez.
Catalina Express got back on the board in the fourth with two runs off a base hit, an error, and a double from Enrique Bravo, who was tagged out on his way to third by the great relay throw from right field. Hamilton Cove Real Estate took the momentum into the bottom of the inning. With bases loaded, Gabriel Alvarado hit a Grand Slam home run.
Catalina Express got their last at bat, and put up three runs off two base hits, a double from Marco Gallegos, another triple from Stephanie Martinez, and a two RBI home run from Luis Lazaro. They fell short of the victory, with the score Catalina Express 8, Hamilton Cove Real Estate 18.
For Catalina Express, Luis Lazaro was three for three. Marco Gallegos, Margery Williams and Stephanie Martinez collected two hits. Jose Octavo, Leo Aguilar and Enrique Bravo had one hit.
For Hamilton Cove Real Estate Nick Morones, Phil Lopez, Ramon Vela, and Julio Chavoya contributed two hits. Julian Tejeda, Gabriel Alvarado, Alex Herrera, Marisa Morones and Angelyna Rivera-Cantrell had one hit.
The final game of the night was between Bravo’s Landscaping and Straight Up Builders. Bravo’s Landscaping was up first, and brought home three runs off two base hits, a walk, and doubles from Uriel Castillo and Mario Jimenez. Bravo’s Landscaping added two more runs in the second off a base hit and doubles from Melissa Schafer, Justin Hernandez and Uriel Castillo.
The third inning saw a big rally from Bravo’s Landscaping. A walk, four base hits, doubles from Tyler Engel, Mario Jimenez and Melissa Schafer, an inside the park Grand Slam from Uriel Castillo followed by the solo home run from Tyler Engel brought a total of ten runs home.
Straight Up Builders got on the board in the bottom of the third when James Hall hit an RBI double. Defense ruled the next two innings. In the sixth and final inning Bravo’s Landscaping had a double from Tyler Engel, followed by the inside the park homerun from Melissa Schafer to have two cross the plate.
With time expired, Straight Up Builders got their last at bat. Brandon Franco hit a solo home run, two quick outs followed, and the game ended with the score Straight Up Builders 2, Bravo’s Landscaping 17.
For Straight Up Builders Chuy Sillas and Briana Morones contributed two hits. Juan De La Cruz, Brandon Franco, James Hall, Christy Flynn and Tara Russell had one hit.
For Bravo’s Landscaping Melissa Schafer collected four hits. Uriel Castillo, Tyler Engel, Mario Jimenez and Caitlin Lopez contributed three hits. Jose Merino and Edmundo Vega had two hits. Justin Hernandez and Viktor Martinez had one hit.
