The influenza vaccine will be available at Catalina Island Medical Center in December. the Medical Center’s staff is reminding the public that “flu ends with U.”
Get your flu shot at one of these Medical Group Office Vaccine Clinics:
• Thursday, December 4 from 9-11 a.m. and 2-5 p.m.
• Friday, December 5 from 8-10 a.m., 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m.

No appointments are necessary. The cost is $25.
Get your flu shot at CIMC’s Medical Group Office at 100 Falls Canyon Rd.
It will take a few minutes but getting the flu vaccine is the single best way to prevent the flu.
If you have never had a flu shot, allow an additional 15-20 minutes after receiving the vaccine to be monitored.
Your flu shot cost may be covered under Medicare or the Vaccines for Children Program. The Center for Disease Control recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older as the first and most important step in protecting against this serious disease.
While there are many different flu viruses, the seasonal flu vaccine is designed to protect against the main flu viruses that research suggests will cause the most illness during the upcoming flu season.
In addition to getting vaccinated, you can take everyday preventive actions like staying away from sick people and washing your hands to reduce the spread of germs.
If you are sick with flu, stay home from work or school to prevent spreading flu to others.
The timing of flu season is very unpredictable and can vary from year to year.
Flu activity most commonly peaks between December and February. However, seasonal flu activity can continue to occur as late as May.
