The Catalina Island Marathon, the oldest trail marathon in California, has revealed their 2024 finisher medals, and they’re definitely something to check out. This year’s medals were designed by Robin Cassidy of Silverado Pottery, a local artist on the island. The medals feature a colorful design of ocean waves and an iconic Catalina Island sunset, displayed on a sustainable clay-base material. Every year, the Catalina Island Marathon reveals a new design for its finisher medal. The design typically highlights famous parts of the course, or animals of Catalina Island. This year’s race will be taking place on March 9, and is expected to attract over 500 marathoners, who will all go home with this year’s unique medal.
