Catalina Fishing Derby contestants net 153 fish

The Catalina Fishing Derby on Wednesday, June 27, was a fishing derby to remember, with 153 fish caught by 25 participants.

In the 10 and under division, the most fish caught came down to the final minute with Slater Bray edging out James Hicks and Austin Amoroso by one fish.

Winners

10 and younger

Biggest Fish: 1: Austin Amoroso, Avalon 14 and one half inches. 2: James Hicks, Long Beach, 13 and three quarter inches. 3: Ashton Bray, Avalon 12 inches.

Most Fish Caught: 1. Slater Bray, Avalon 24, two. James Hicks, Long Beach and Austin Amoroso, Avalon 23, three. Celeste Carrey, Dana Point 12.

11 and older

Biggest Fish: 1. Sam Dikdan, Lomita 12 and one half inches. 2. Abigail Obarr, Brea 10 inches. 3. Alex Young, Santa Barbara 8 inches.

Most Fish Caught: 1. Sam Dikdan, Lomita 6, two. Alex Young, Santa Barbara 5, three. Abagail Obarr, Brea four.

Most unusual

Owen Charlseworth caught four whitefish, Sculpin, Garibaldi, and an Opal Eye.
