Catalina Festival of Art awards years’ top works

The 65th Annual Catalina Festival of Art wrapped up recently with more than 60 booths of local and visiting artists displaying and selling their work. Award winners included the prize for best Catalina Scene going to this year’s Festival of Art poster artist, Kymberlee Stanley.

Stanley, a former resident of the island had spent months back here recently working on new Plein Air pieces around the island. Best in Show winner went to Linda Ikeda, a Long Beach based artist and former oncology nurse.

Jewely Aguilar won first place in Fine Art, with Claudia Nocke taking second place and Laurie Marshall taking third place. Ron Libbrecht received an Honorable Mention for his work. Aguilar’s winning piece can be seen on her Instagram page, artbyjewely, where she posted a photo of the piece with her ribbon. She also has a YouTube channel by the same artbyjewely name that has some videos of her works in progress.
