I have decided to run for City Council because I believe I have the ability to facilitate changes that will greatly benefit our community. I have always been committed to protecting and serving our citizens.

I worked for the City of Avalon for 25 years, including 10 years as Fire Chief, and four years as City Manager. My experience has equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle every obstacle and opportunity facing us today. Making critical decisions under pressure is something I take very seriously. Running the fire department and managing the City have given me firsthand experience leading and working with a variety of people and organizations for the betterment of our community on many levels.

I am a third generation islander, my grandparents and parents have all invested and contributed in a variety of ways to enrich our community. You will not see posters up around town asking you to vote for me, but please do not take that as a sign of disinterest or lack of effort. The political process of promoting oneself to get elected is something I do not like to engage in. I am running to do the job and I believe I can do it well, but I am not here to try to convince you of that or to draw attention to myself. If you know me or have seen what I have accomplished for the City in the past 25 years, or how I run my businesses, take care of my family, or conduct myself professionally, I’m asking you to take all these factors into consideration and please vote for me. I am deeply committed to all things I am invested in.

For those of you who don’t know me, I am always available to answer any questions or listen to any concerns. As Fire Chief and City Manager, I always made it a priority to be open, available, and willing to listen to all perspectives. I am here for the people of Avalon, I understand their concerns, and I have both the background knowledge and vision to find solutions that promote unity as we move our city forward.

Where many candidates will list their accomplishments and goals, I leave you with this. Anyone can take credit for them on paper, but the truth is it takes more than one person to make a decision and multiple people to bring a project to completion. I have seen firsthand how things work and am aware of what the biggest roadblocks are, as well as what it takes to move things forward.

I could talk about the issues and my ideas to resolve them, however many of my positions are already posted on the Chamber’s website as answers to their questionnaire. Please know this, I will always maintain a commitment to the history of Avalon, the quality of life for its residents, and the future of our island and I know what it takes to get the job done.
