Catalina co-ed softball takes the field

Catalina CoEd Softball opened the season on April 15. Everyone is excited and ready to have some fun outside. Straight Up Builders fought hard in the first game, but lost to Lobster Trap 19-4.

Josh Flynn, Beto Martin, Nick Morones and David Ponce all had two hits. Gilbert Hernandez, Bart Glass, Daniel Paradisi and Laura Priest all collected one hit for Straight Up Builders.

Lobster Traps’ Justin Hernandez was four for four. Margery Williams also had four hits. Edmundo Vegas was three for three. Manny Hernandez and Salina Morones also had three hits. Jose Octavo, Jose Cuevas and Francisco Bravo collected two hits. J D Laflin and Diego Rios had one hit.

Game two of the night was between Bravo’s Landscaping and Coyote Joes. In this close contest, Bravo’s Landscaping edged ahead of Coyote Joes 9-8.

For Bravo’s Landscaping, Jimmy Felix and Tino Rodriguez were both 3 for 3. Jim Hinkley and Aimee Casillas collected two hits. With one hit each were Joe Hernadnez, Tyler Engel, JoJo Machado and Gabriel Alvarado.

For Coyote Joes, Sebastian Sanchez was 3 for 3. Juan De La Cruz and Hugh Bevins had two hits. Frankie Rojo, Chuy Sillas, Ron Bevins, Juan Pablo Bravo and Cathy Ponce all had one hit.

Week 2 featured Straight Up Builders and Bravo’s Landscaping in the first game. Straight Up Builders got the better of Bravo’s Landscaping in this game 19-5.

For Straight Up Builders, Nick Morones was 5 for 5. Josh Flynn and Beto Martin had four hits. Gilberto Hernandez, Bart Glass and Maria Reyes collected three hits. Freddy Zavala and Marissa Morones had two hits, while Paul Daniel Romo collected one hit.

For Bravo’s Landscaping Joe Hernandez and Jimmy Felix collected two hits. Robert Reyes, Tyler Engel, Tino Rodriguez, Jim Hinkley, Aimee Casillas and Gwen Karnowski contributed one hit.

The second game of the night was between the Lobster Trap and Coyote Joe’s. In this close contest, Coyote Joe’s got the win 8-7.

For The Lobster Trap, Jose Octavo was three for three. Justin Hernandez and Margery Williams had two hits. J D Laflin, Jose Cuevas, Manny Hernandez, Diego Rios, Selina Morones, Brianna Morones and Stephanie Martinez all contributed one hit.

For Coyote Joe’s, Sebastian Sanchez was 4 for 4. Chuy Sillas and Nestor Cubillo collected two hits. Juan De La Cruz, Ron Bevins and Felipe Casillas all had one hit.

Week three has all four teams tied in standings at 1-1. Game one of the night was between Bravo’s Landscaping and The Lobster Trap. Bravo’s Landscaping had a tough night with the bat, and lost to The Lobster Trap 18-2.

For Bravo’s Landscaping, Robert Reyes was 2 for 2. Gabriel Alvarado, Jim Hinkley and Diana Rios had one hit.

For The Lobster Trap, Margery Williams was 4 for 4. You go girl!!! Justin Hernandez and J D Laflin had three hits. Jose Octavo, Jose Cuevas and Francisco Bravo all had two hits. Manny Hernandez, Diego Rios, Selina Morones and Stephanie Martinez had one hit.

Game two was again a close contest. Coyote Joe’s squeaked past Straight Up Builders 15-14. For Straight Up Builders, Nick Morones was 3 for 3. Marisa Morones also had three this. Josh Flynn, Daniel Paradisi, David Ponce, Paul Daniel Romo and Maria Reyes all had two hits. Beto Martin, Bart Glass and Gilbert Hernandez had one hit.

For Coyote Joes, Sebastian Sanchez continued his perfect at-bats, going 4 for 4. Chuy Sillas, Rachel Mc Cormick and Toria Richards all had three hits. Frankie Rojo, Nestor Cubillo, Ron Bevins and Juan De La Cruz contributed two hits.
