It looks like the weather might clear just in time for the annual Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup to resume its annual environmental stewardship. This year will mark the 44th Annual event that brings together hundreds of divers and volunteers to remove debris from the seabed in Avalon Harbor. Currently organized by Catalina Divers Supply and supported by other organizations, partners, this unique cleanup is one of the largest of its kind in the country, according to USC Hyperbaric Chamber, one of the projects the cleanup helps support. Among others are the Avalon Rotary Club Foundation and the Casino Dive Park Improvement Project. Volunteer registration has ended prior to publication of this issue, but if you’re passing by on Saturday, feel free to give the workers a word of encouragement or thanks.
