The local foundation known as “Bucks From Bobby,” named in honor of former Avalon resident Bobby Machado, is still working its magic and making a significant contribution to youth activities and youth sports in Avalon. Once again, they made it possible for four Avalon High School student/athletes to attend a 3-day basketball camp in Torrance, California. Each day the kids worked on their individual offensive and defensive skills under the tutelage of Breakthrough Basketball coaches, specifically Jay Cee Williams, who was the camp leader.

This was a great opportunity for our local players to improve their skills by competing against mainland competition. Hopefully these players will continue to work on their game during the off season and be prepared to make a run for a league championship when the season arrives. Thanks to “Bucks From Bobby” and the committee that organizes the annual golf tournament that raises the funds that help change the lives of our Avalon youth year in and year out.

Your hard work and dedication is much appreciated.
