Catalina Co-Ed Softball returned to the field Thursday, Jan. 9, with Bravo’s Landscaping taking on Sunset Bar & Grill.
Bravo’s Landscaping was up first, and Juan Hernandez opened the game with an inside the park homerun. Marco Gallegos followed with an inside the park homerun also. The third run crossed the plate off the RBI double from Mario Jimenez. Sunset Bar & Grill answered with the solo homerun from Tyler Engel. The third inning saw Bravo’s Landscaping use a combination of hits and errors to bat around the order and score thirteen runs. Amid the eight base hits and six errors, Julian Tejeda and Mario Jimenez had doubles. Sunset Bar & Grill answered with an RBI triple from Tyler Engel, who later scored on the double from Robert Reyes. Bravo’s Landscaping put up three more runs on two base hits, a double from Mario Jimenez and two errors in the fourth. Juan Hernandez hit a double and scored in the fifth for Bravo’s Landscaping. Sunset Bar & Grill used three base hits, an error, and a double from Robert Reyes to bring home four with time expired. The game ended with the score Sunset Bar & Gril 7, Bravo’s Landscaping 20.
Game two
For Sunset Bar & Grill Tyler Engel, Robert Reyes, Phillip Lopez and Rafa Silva had two hits. Gabriel Alvarado, Aimee Casillas, Teagan Machado and Olivia Alldrin contributed one hit. For Bravo’s Landscaping Juan Hernandez was four for four. Mario Jimenez collected three hits. Marco Gallegos, Julian Tejeda, Santiago Martinez and Maddie Hiniker contributed two hits. Leo Aguilar, Brayan Aguilar, Viktor Martinez and Alexandria Tran had one hit.
Game two featured Coyote Joe’s and Straight Up Builders. Coyote Joe’s was up first, and used a walk and four base hits to score three. Chuy Sillas hit a double for Straight Up Builders in the bottom of the inning, but was left stranded.
Coyote Joe’s brought home six runs off three base hits, a walk, a double from Matilda Martinez and a triple from Jose Barrera. Straight Up Builders put together a walk, two base hits, and a three run homerun from Uriel Castillo to bring home four in the bottom of the inning.
Straight Up Builders took the lead in the third when two base hits, doubles from Luis Lazaro and Uriel Castillo, and a two run homerun from Ben Guzman brought home four. Straight Up Builders added to their lead in the fourth with three runs off three base hits and doubles from Chuy Sillas and Brandon Franco.
Coyote Joe’s had two base hits and a double from J.D. Laflin to score two in the top of the fifth.
Straight Up Builders had a double from Briana Morones, an error and a triple from Paul Daniel Romo to bring home two when time expired with the score Coyote Joe’s 11, Straight Up Builders 13.
For Coyote Joe’s Matilda Martinez collected five hits. J.D. Laflin and Juan De La Cruz had three hits.
Jose Barrera contributed two hits while Ron Bevins and Omar Aguilar had one. For Straight Up Builders Chuy Sillas was three for three. Luis Lazaro, Brandon Franco, Ben Guzman, Uriel Castillo, Paul Daniel Romo, Ramon Sanchez Vela and Briana Morones all collected two hits.
