In the 57th minute senior captain Alberto Rodriguez made a goal to seal the victory for the Lancers after a great assist by teammate Cristian Martinez. At the end of the game Goalkeeper Jason Cisneros was on fire stopping every attack that came towards him and helping his team get the 14th shutout of the year and the 21st victory in a row.

On Tuesday March 4 the Avalon Lancers hosted the semifinal game at Joe Machado where the whole place was packed it was a very intense and emotional game.

The first half was a defensive game going into halftime tied nothing a piece.  In the second half the lancers seemed very determined and knew what was at stake and put there heart out on this game and finally came through with a goal by senior Luis Herrera.

The Lancers were pumped the crowd was going wild it all seemed to be going our way until the other team received three free kicks from right outside the box for no apparent reason and finally Vistamar tied up the game 1 – 1. This game was headed to overtime where the first team that score wins in the third minute of overtime unfortunately the Vikings scored and defeated the Avalon Lancers.

The score did not define who these players are there is definitely a passion and commitment in these players eyes and how hard working of a team they are. Even tough the Lancers came up one game short of reaching the championship, the team has a lot to be proud. Having a 21-game winning streak, getting league champs two years in a row, there’s one thing about these players: They left it all out on the field and they have great pride. You make Avalon High School proud.
