Tyler Engel the son of Kenny and Patty Engel joined the Avalon Lions Club on March 27, 2019. Tyler is the grandson of Bill and Rosie Engel. Bill Engel’s Father Vern Engel was a Avalon Lions Club Member in the 1950s serving on the Club’s Board of Directors and was voted one of the first Life Memberships for his outstanding community service. Bill and Kenny Engel have carried on this family’s tradition of community service by serving on the Board, heading up work parties and sponsoring new members. Bill Engel has been a Avalon Lion for 31 years and continues as an active Board member.
The Avalon Lions Club is part of Lions International, the largest community service organization in the world. Recent Avalon Community projects include bringing the Mobile Eye and Hearing Screening unit to Avalon for the Community Health Fair, monetary donations to the Avalon School Athletic Program and providing the Catalina Conservancy with new Ranger Radios.
