Avalon honors veterans

Pictured above is Norris “Whitey” Mendenhall, a long-time resident of the Island and Air Force Veteran. Mendenhall suffered a stroke recently and is now recovering at home, after coming back from the VA Hospital in Long Beach. He is now being treated at Avalon Hospital. The Avalon VFW hosted a Veterans Day Ceremony on Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park in Avalon. The event included a Presentation of the Colors by the VFW Post 4682 Honor Guard, and guest speakers.
