Mendenhall suffered a stroke recently and is now recovering at home, after coming back from the VA Hospital in Long Beach. He is now being treated at Avalon Hospital. At the end of the ceremony, “Whitey” got up to say a few words to the attendees. “That was special,” VFW member Ralph Morrow said.
