Avalon High School proudly announced the 2022 Athletes of the Year at the Awards Night Ceremony Wednesday June 8, 2022. This award not only recognizes athletic skill and talent, but also the intangible characteristics of leadership and sportsmanship.
Female Athlete of the Year:
Vanessa Rodriguez
Vanessa is a junior. Vanessa has lettered in volleyball, basketball and softball for 4 years. She served as a team captain for all those sports this year. Her accolades include: volleyball: Express League Libero of the Year, 2nd team All CIF; Long Beach Dream Team 2nd team: Basketball 2nd team All-League, and softball All-League Honorable Mention
Male Athlete of the Year:
Leonardo Rodriguez Alcala
Leo has lettered in Basketball and Baseball for four years . He served as team captain in baseball this year. His accolades include: Basketball – 2nd team All-League; Baseball – 1st team All-League.
