Public Works Dept. also conducting a survey on parking

The Avalon Harbor Department is asking the boating community for feedback. A link to the 17-question survey is availble at the bottom of home page of the city of Avalon website.

“The City of Avalon is conducting a study about the boating community’s experiences with the Avalon Harbor Department and need your input,” according to the introduction to the survey at surveymonkey.com.

“Your responses to this survey will help the Harbor Department better understand the needs and desires of the boating community and help us identify services, amenities, and programs to best fit those needs.”

At last week’s City Council meeting, Harbor Master JJ Poindexter told thee council that the survey wouould be up tentatively until the end of April, but if it needed to be extended, it would be extended.

Mayor Anni Marshall asked if a survey had been taken before.

“We’ve done it a long time ago—I mean 20 years ago, maybe?” Poindexter said.

He said that was mostly for the dinghy docks.

“This is a well-rounded fact finding mission,” he said.

“We will read it and we will grow with it,” Poindexter said.

In response to a question from Council Member Oley Olsen, Harbor Mastor Poindexter said the Harbor Department plans to put the survey in an email to the mooring owners and leasees.
