The loss brings a final end to the Lancers’ season, as they captured an Academy League championship and a trip to the semifinals.

The Avalon High football team advanced to the second round of the CIF-SS 8-man, Division 2 playoffs, with a 66-8 win over Cal Lutheran on Friday. Valley Christian (6-2) was also an at-large entry, but took out Cornerstone Christian of Wildomar, 70-28 in their first-round game. The Lancers will play at Valley Christian on Saturday, at 5 p.m.
