Avalon Food Security program feeds families

On behalf of the Avalon Community Church, city of Avalon and the Food Security Advisory Committee, we would like to thank everyone who helped support the Food Security program. This was a wonderful coming together of our local community and of friends from overtown (that’s the mainland, to any visitors who are reading these words). The financial contributions, labor and donations in kind made it possible to provide almost 8,000 bags of food over the course of the pandemic to as many as 200 families per week.

The need is now greatly reduced, but we are preparing for an increase in need during the potentially dark days ahead. Any additional support is welcome. Donations can be made by making a check out to the city of Avalon and either dropping it off at City Hall or mailing to P.O. Box 707, Avalon, CA 90704, and noting it as “food pantry donation,” or by mailing a check to Avalon Community Church at PO Box 98, Avalon, CA 90704, and noting it as “food pantry donation.”

Credit card donations can be made by contacting Dan Huncke at dhuncke@cityof
avalon.com. All donations go directly to the Food Pantry operated out of Avalon Community Church.
