Annual Catalina Island Chili Cook Off, Call for Entries

Avalon Rotary Club Foundation is inviting cooks, chefs and novices to join in the annual Catalina Island Chili Cook Off. Competition categories include Judges and People’s choices with prizes totaling $3,000 to be awarded.

Entrants are responsible for delivering prepared food by 11 am on Festival Day, October 2, 2021. Creative naming to draw attention to its unique characteristics is encouraged as are team entries like fire departments, business or industry groups. Entry fee for chili contestants is $50.

The Chili Cook Off is slated to run from 1 to 4 p.m., on Avalon’s South Beach. Adult admission is $25, children 5-11 are $5 and under age 5 are free. There will be booths for chili tastings, beer and wine, snacks and souvenirs.

The Avalon Rotary Club Foundation was founded in 2010 with the purpose of providing scholarships, grants and other financial assistance to students and graduates of Avalon Schools; to provide funds for other charitable purposes and other charitable organizations.
