“We are very pleased to welcome Carol Reynolds and Dr. Erik Barton to the AMDC Board,” Michael Ponce, chairman of the Board said. Barton, MD, MS, MBA is professor and chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at UC Irvine School of Medicine. Barton is committed to helping Catalina Island Medical Center im prove patient-centered, efficient care among the emergency medicine providers. “Dr. Barton is well known for his excellent organizational capabilities, energy, and vision,” said UC Irvine School of Medicine Dean Ralph V. Clayman, MD.
Barton obtained his bachelor of science degree from UCLA, has a masters in exercise physiology from the University of Texas and completed his medical degree at UC San Diego, where he remained for his internship and residency.
He most recently earned an MBA from the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. He is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a fellow of both the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Physicians. He holds professional memberships the AMA, Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the Association of Academic Chairs in Emergency Medicine. He is listed among “America’s Top Emergency Physicians.”
Carol Reynolds joins Board with considerable leadership experience and fundraising skills.
Carol is the former chairperson of CIMC Foundation. She served the Foundation for two consecutive terms, totaling six years of dedicated service.
Under Carol’s tireless efforts, the CIMC Foundation raised over $700,000 in direct and in-kind contributions, which benefited the island’s hospital and medical clinic. Carol was also instrumental in developing and growing the popular “An Evening with Oscar,” a black-tie benefit that has become the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser.The other AMDC Board members are Catrina Awalt, Judy Grear, and Trudy Saldana. The AMDC Board meets on the fourth Tuesday each month.
