Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the period of March 10 to March 16, 2022.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.
March 10
• Deputies responded to a disturbance call on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue regarding a male requesting help.
Upon arrival deputies contacted a male adult who had fallen and struck his head on the pavement.
The male was transported to the hospital by Avalon Fire for treatment.
• Deputies responded to a disturbance call at a hotel on Sumner Avenue.
The informant stated water was flowing from a guest room into the hallway. The deputies conducted a welfare check and contacted a male and female inside the hotel room.
Both guests appeared intoxicated and told deputies they were asleep and did not know the toilet was overflowing. The hotel manager was able to shut off the water.
March 11
• Deputies responded to a burglar alarm call on Claressa Avenue.
The interior motion detector had been activated inside the business. Deputies checked the location and determined it was an accidental activation only.
• Deputies responded to a loud music call on Sumner Avenue. The caller stated the live band at the location was playing music too loud. Deputies contacted the band and asked them to lower their music. They immediately complied.
March 12
•Deputies responded to a business disturbance call on the 100 block of Pebbly Beach Road.
The caller stated 4 females in a golf cart were drunk and throwing trash on the street.
The deputies contacted all involved parties and determined no crime had been committed. The females were apologetic for their behavior and stated it was a misunderstanding.
• Deputies responded to a juvenile disturbance call at Hamilton Cove.
The caller advised 7-8 juveniles were being loud in the pool area. The deputies contacted the kids and asked them to keep the noise down.
March 13
• Avalon Sheriff’s Station received a disturbance call at a hotel on Country Club Drive. The hotel manager was concerned there was a domestic disturbance at one of the guest rooms.
The deputies contacted a male and a female and determined a domestic assault had occurred.
The deputies arrested Suspect Frank Gonzalez, 34, of Montebello, on suspicion of domestic violence. The suspect was transported and booked at the sheriff’s station.
• Deputies responded to a disturbance call on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue.
The caller stated a male adult was arguing with other patrons at the location. The deputies contacted the disturbing party and counseled him regarding his behavior.
The man left the location without incident.
• Deputies responded to Hamilton Cove regarding a man screaming at the location. The deputies along with the fire departments contacted a male adult who had fallen in the restroom and was calling for help. The man was helped up and treated by the fire department.
March 14
• Deputies responded to a business disturbance on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue. The caller stated several people at the location were acting belligerent. The deputies contacted the individuals and asked them to behave. They were cooperative.
March 15
• Deputies responded to Whittley Avenue regarding a family disturbance. The deputies contacted a female at the location who stated she had a court order against her boyfriend. The court order stated the male could not be within 5 yards of the female. The deputies investigated and determined no crime had been committed.
March 16
• Deputies responded to a disturbance call near the Tuna Club. The caller stated 2 males were being loud at the location. The deputies contacted the 2 males and told them to keep it down.
