The long trip didn’t slow down the Lancers with them taking home another victory against the Academy of Careers and Exploration Eagles with a score of 75-0. The game was dominated by both offense and defense and the Lancers are looking stronger with every game.
Senior quarterback Jerod Long had a perfect passing game, completing every one of his passes and throwing for three touchdowns. Senior wide receivers Clark Morris and Jason Cisneros were unstoppable with their receiving having over 25 yards per catch and senior running back Jose Carmen Silva dominated the running game with 150 yards rushing and multiple scores as well. The offensive line led by senior right guard Harrison Hobbs was a brute force against the Eagles, and senior left guard Jalen Flynn and junior center Giovanni Leyva helped lead the way for the Lancers to accumulate almost 600 yards for the game.
The defense completely shut down every aspect of the Eagles offense and did not allow any positive yardage the whole game. Senior linebackers Silva and Long had a combined 26 tackles and two sacks for the game and the total defense were two shy of hitting a total of 100 tackles for Friday’s contest. Senior defensive end Harrison Hobbs had his own sack, seven tackles and a blocked punt and senior safety Cesar Ventura led the secondary not allowing any completed passes the whole game.
Freshman kicker Jason Campos had over 250 yards on kickoffs and had multiple touchbacks not allowing the Eagles to develop any kind of return game. While senior kicker Cisneros capped off the night with his own three points by making a perfect 42 yard field goal.
The Lancers are now ranked in the top 100 nationally, No. 3 in the state and No. 2 in the CIF and they are getting better every week. This week is a bye week for the Lancers but they will take to the road again next week to play the Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles in Inglewood, Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
