The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Dec. 9 to Dec. 15, 2020.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

• Deputies responded to the 300 block of Eucalyptus Avenue regarding a stolen golf cart. The golf cart was located and returned to the owner.

December 11

• Deputies were called to the 100 block of Clarissa Avenue regarding several males reportedly threatening to assault a female. When the deputies arrived, they checked the area for the disturbing parties and the female. All had left the area, and there did not appear to be any crimes committed.

December 12

• Deputies responded to the 300 block of Sumner Avenue regarding a loud party at a residence. Deputies contacted the responsible individual and explained the Safer at Home Order and the laws regarding loud music. The responsible individual was cooperative and complied with the order.

December 13

• LA County Baywatch and deputies responded to the area near Goat Harbor regarding campers that lost their boat after it floated away. Baywatch found the boat and towed it to Avalon Harbor. Deputies transported the six campers to Avalon Harbor.

December 14

• An Avalon resident reported that someone might have used her personal information to register a vehicle on the mainland. Deputies conducted an investigation and determined a family member had used her toll road account without telling her. No crimes had been committed.

December 15

• Deputies received a call that someone set up a tent in the 100 block of Pebbly Beach Road and was sleeping in it. Deputies determined it was the same campers from the Dec. 13, 2020, camping incident who were waiting for their boat to be repaired. They agreed to move their tent and were scheduled to leave the island.

Holiday Safety Tips

Place gifts where they cannot be seen from the outside. Be sure to mail cards, checks or gift certificates from the post office and not from open mailboxes on street corners. Be aware of scams that criminals commit to take advantage of people’s generosity during the holidays.
