Sheriff’s Log: Dec. 16 to Dec. 21, 2015

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Dec. 16 to Dec. 22.

Doug Fetteroll, commander of the Station.  “Many people who get arrested do not get convicted or even charged with crimes for which they have been arrested.”

Reminder

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will hold a public safety meeting at the City Council Chambers on Dec. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.  A variety of topics will be discussed, including active shooter scenarios, a terrorism update, crime prevention information, etc.  

Anyone who is interested in learning more about these topics is invited.

December 16

• An Avalon resident reported a tire was stolen off his bicycle while the bicycle was locked to a bike rack at the Cabrillo Mole.

December 17

• At 10:50 a.m., Isaac Rios, 20, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of a felony warrant and two misdemeanor warrants.

December 18

• At 8:40 a.m., Lucy Gonzalez, 35, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

December 19

• A single vehicle golf-cart accident occurred at Avalon Canyon Road and Tremont Street.  The driver of the golf cart was transported to Catalina Island Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

• Patric Nichols, 57, a resident of Riverside, died while scuba diving off the east end of Catalina Island.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.

• At 8:45 p.m., David Vogt, 32, a resident of Bakersfield, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

December 20

• No significant incidents.

December 21

• An Avalon resident reported losing his day planner and a large quantity of U.S. currency in the 100 block of Metropole Avenue.

December 22

• An Avalon resident reported being the victim of a battery in the 100 block of Catalina Avenue.
