The Avalon Lancers football team (11-0)  made history last Friday when they beat the Mojave Mustangs 50-8 in the CIF Championship game winning its first football championship in the school’s history. After losing two years in a row in the semifinals and last year the loss being from Mojave, the Lancers made it their goal to go all the way and they did exactly that, celebrating an undefeated season.

The Avalon Lancers football team is undefeated in league after beating St. Michaels Prep 85-0 last Friday.

This Lancer team is quickly gaining momentum and getting stronger as they prepare for the league championship game this Friday.

Senior Quarterback Jerod Long set an Avalon Football record last Friday by throwing 8/11 for 248 yards and seven touchdowns.

In Saturday’s league match, the Avalon Lancers football squad scored a big 81-6 victory over the Lutheran Trojans.

This makes them 1-0 in their league and 6-0 on the season as they have outscored their opponents 407-18.

The Lancers offense was led by senior quarterback Jerod Long who was an impressive 8/10 on his passes and threw for 135 yards with two touchdowns. Senior running back Jose Silva had a great game with three touchdowns, running for 111 yards and received for 62 yards.

The Lancers had an away non-conference game against Animo Leadership in South LA last Saturday where they walked away with another victory. The Lancers once again completely rolled over their opponent and had a record night for both offense and defense.
