Summer basketball kicks off
Steve’s Steakhouse finished the first round of Summer League Basketball with a perfect 5 and 0 record after defeating the Metropole Hotel in a battle of two undefeated teams. The Steakhouse is led by two former League MVPs Marco Gallegos and Cesar Ocampo as well as two giants, Chris Arnold and Addison Wesley. The Metropole, at 4 and 1, is led by Jose Montano, JD Laflin and Ricky Hague.
The Lobster Trap is in third place at 3 and 2 after defeating the High School team in a close game.
They are led by Alejandro Campos and Mario Jimenez. The High School team has played well in every game but still have to learn how to finish the deal.
Edgar Alvarez, Gabe Hernandez and Danny Jimenez have been leading the way.
The Chi Chi Club captured their first victory against The Locker Room and are on the rise. They are led by Fidel Rodriguez and the Ramirez brothers, Jose and Ricardo.
Finally, we have The Locker Room, who have lost key players to major injuries and are hoping to patch things up and get competitive for the second and third rounds of play.
Omar Bravo has been their fearless leader and Adan Vega has joined the team to improve its chances. Games are played from 6 to 9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays.
Admission is free.
