Straight Up Builders, Bravo’s Landscaping win in week two

Week 2 of Catalina CoEd Softball opened with a close contest between Coyote Joe’s and Straight Up Builders in game one. Coyote Joe’s opened the game by batting around the order. Five base hits, a walk and a double from Jose Barreras brought home six runs.

Chuy Sillas opened the bottom of the inning for Straight Up Builders with a triple. A base hit and doubles from Brandon Franco and Selina Morones brought home three. In the bottom of the second Straight Up Builders tied it up with three runs home on two base hits, an error and a two-run home run from Elias Romero.

Coyote Joe’s broke the tie with a run in the third. Straight Up Builders regained the lead in the bottom of the inning with two runs off two base hits and a double from Maria Reyes. Coyote Joe’s tied it up in the fifth when J.D. Laflin hit a double and scored on the triple from Gustavo Gutierrez.

Straight Up Builders edged ahead in the bottom of the sixth with a run, off three base hits. Coyote Joe’s got their last at bat but couldn’t get a run home. The game ended with the score Coyote Joe’s 8, Straight Up Builders 9.

For Coyote Joe’s J.D. Laflin was four for four. Gustavo Gutierrez was three for three. Matilda Martinez collected two hits, while Hugh Bevins, Jose Barreras, Omar Aguilar and Edmundo Vega contributed one hit.

For Straight Up Builders Selina Morones was four for four. Chuy Sillas was three for three. Brandon Franco, Bart Glass and Maria Reyes contributed two hits. Ramon Sanchez Vela, Uriel Castillo, Paul Daniel Romo and Elias Romero had one hit.

Game two between Bravo’s Landscaping and Sunset Bar & Grill was close most of the game. Bravo’s Landscaping was up first and brought home a run on a base hit and a sacrifice flyball. Ryan Adkins hit a double for Sunset Bar & Grill in the bottom of the inning, but was left stranded at second.

Sergio Vallejo hit a double for Bravo’s Landscaping in the top of the second, but couldn’t get past second base. Bravo’s Landscaping added two in the third off two base hits and an error. Sunset Bar & Grill got on the board in the bottom of the inning. Justin Hernandez opened with a triple, but was tagged out trying to stretch it into a home run. Ryan Adkins followed him and hit it out of the park for the only run of the inning.

Bravo’s Landscaping added another run when Mario Jimenez hit a double and scored on the sacrifice fly. Sunset Bar & Grill got a run in the bottom of the inning off an error, two walks and two base hits. The one run an inning trend continued in the fifth when Bravo’s Landscaping scored one on three base hits.

Sunset Bar & Grill scored a run when Tyler Engel hit a double and scored on the sacrifice flyball. In the sixth Bravo’s Landscaping finally found all the holes in the defense and rallied around the batting order. They used eight base hits, doubles from Sergio Vallejo, Alexandria Tran and Maddie Hiniker, home runs from Juan Hernandez and Brayan Aguilar to bring home a total of thirteen.

With time expired Sunset Bar & Grill had their last at bat. They used three base hits and a fielder’s choice to score two. The game ended with the score Bravo’s Landscaping 18, Sunset Bar & Grill 5.

For Sunset Bar & Grill Justin Hernandez collected three hits. Ryan Adkins, Cesar Aguilar and Olivia Alldrin contributed two hits. Tyler Engel and Julio Chavoya had one hit.

For Bravo’s Landscaping Brayan Aguilar was four for four. Marco Gallegos and Mario Jimenez collected three hits. Juan Hernandez, Sergio Vallejo, Viktor Martinez, Alexandria Tran and Maddie Hiniker contributed two hits. Santiago Martinez and Tiffany Credle had one hit.
