Straight Up, Bravo’s and Hamilton Cove RE win

Week three of Catalina CoEd Softball opened with Straight Up Builders taking on Chet’s Hardware. Straight Up Builders turned a walk into a run, and with a runner on, Brandon Franco hit a two RBI home run for a total of three runs. Chet’s Hardware answered back with a solo home run from Marco Gallegos.

Straight Up Builders put up two more runs in the third. Ryan Hinkley hit a solo inside-the-park home run. A sacrifice flyball brought home the second run of the inning. Chet’s Hardware collected two runs in the bottom of the third off three base hits and a double from Juan De La Cruz.

Straight Up Builders had two base hits and a double from Chuy Sillas to score two more in the fourth. Chet’s Hardware took advantage of two errors and a base hit to bring a run home in the bottom of the fourth. Chet’s Hardware crept closer in the sixth when two runs scored off an error and doubles from Sebastian Sanchez and Selina Morones.

Top of six, and Straight Up Builders rallied for five base hits and a sacrifice fly to bring home an additional three. Chet’s Hardware got their last at bat, but couldn’t rally their offense. The game ended with the score Chet’s Hardware 6, Straight Up Builders 10.

For Chet’s Hardware, Sebastian Sanchez was four for four. Marco Gallegos, Juan De La Cruz, Alex Romero, Selina Morones, Betty Tejeda and Apples Carrillo all contributed one hit.

For Straight Up Builders, Chuy Sillas and Jim Hinkley were three for three. Brandon Franco also had three hits. Laura Priest collected two hits. Ryan Hinkley, Uriel Castillo and Frannie Finley had one hit.

Game two featured the Lobster Trap and Bravo’s Landscaping. Bravo’s Landscaping put up three runs in the bottom of the first off three base hits, a double from Joe Hernandez and a triple from Justin Hernandez.

The Lobster Trap turned an error into a run in the second. Justin Hernandez collected an RBI off his double for Bravo’s Landscaping in the third. In the fourth Beto Martin hit a double for The Lobster Trap and scored on the throw around errors from Bravo’s Landscaping. Bravo’s Landscaping got that run back in the fifth when Billy Boyd hit a double and later scored.

Bravo’s Landscaping added two more in the sixth off a base hit and an error. Top of the seventh and final inning The Lobster Trap’s Weston Leonhardi opened with a double and scored for the only run. The game ended with the score The Lobster Trap 3, Bravo’s Landscaping 7.

For The Lobster Trap, Weston Leonhardi and Mario Jimenez collected two hits. Jose Octavo, Beto Martin, Paul Daniel Romo and Christy Alegria Flynn contributed one hit.

For Bravo’s Landscaping, Joe Hernandez, Justin Hernandez, Juan Pablo Bravo and Leah Quarnstrom all contributed two hits. Tyler Engel, Marcus Watts, Billy Boyd and Stephanie Martinez had one hit.

Game three turned into a close contest between Coyote Joe’s and Hamilton Cove Real Estate. Coyote Joe’s was up first, and J.D. Laflin promptly hit a solo home run. Ben Guzman followed with a double and scored. Hamilton Cove Real Estate’s Robert Reyes opened with a double and later scored.

Hamilton Cove Real Estate took the lead in the second when three runs crossed the plate on two base hits and doubles from Luis Lazzaro, Carlos Martinez and Matilde Martinez. In the third J.D. Laflin hit his second home run for Coyote Joe’s. Hamilton Cove Real Estate answered with two runs off three hits and a sacrifice fly.

Inning four and Coyote Joe’s crept closer with two runs off a walk and two base hits. Hamilton Cove had three base hits to score a run in the bottom of the inning. In the bottom of the fifth, Hamilton Cover put together a rally to score five runs off three base hits, and inside-the-park home runs from Leo Aguilar and Luis Lazzaro.

Coyote Joe’s came up to bat down by 7. Their offense woke up, and they put together seven base hits with a walk to score six runs before Hamilton Cove Real Estate got the final out. Hamilton Cove Real Estate held on for the win with the score Coyote Joe’s 11, Hamilton Cove Real Estate 12.

For Coyote Joe’s J.D. Laflin was three for three. Alexandria Tran was two for two. Ben Guzman, Enrique Bravo and Ron Bevins also collected two hits. Francisco Bravo, Jorge Leon and Victor Martinez had one hit.

For Hamilton Cove Real Estate, Robert Reyes and Luis Lazzaro were three for three. Carlos Martinez was two for two. Also with two hits were Nick Morones, Leo Aguilar, Marisa Morones and Matilde Martinez. Gabriel Alvarado and Reed Woodyard contributed one hit.
