Sheriff’s log: Sept. 24-30, 2015

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Sept. 24 to Sept. 30.

“It is important to note that no assumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the content of the information provided in this report,” said Capt. Doug Fetteroll, commander of the Station.  “Many people who get arrested do not get convicted or even charged with crimes for which they have been arrested.”

Descanso Beach burglary investigation

Avalon Station investigators arrested John Talksy, 34, and Kristen Loos, 34, both residents of Avalon, on suspicion of involvement in the burglary at Descanso Beach on Sept. 5, 2015.  

Stolen property was also recovered during the investigation. Avalon Station and the victim are very appreciative for the many tips that were received regarding this investigation.    

Avalon Station’s Athlete of the Week

Avalon Station deputies would like to congratulate Oscar Bastida on his first place finish at the school’s cross country track meet.  

Oscar was not only Avalon’s first finisher, but he beat every other runner in the race and may have set a school record in the process.  Great job, Oscar!

September 24

• An Avalon resident reported a pop-up canopy was stolen from the porch of her residence in the 200 block of Clarissa Avenue.

• A significant amount of US currency was found in the street and turned into Avalon Station by an honest citizen.

September 25

• No significant incidents.

September 26

• At 2:40 p.m., Jesse Rodriguez, 28, a resident of Anaheim, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

• At 10:05 p.m., Drue Maggetti, 26, a resident of Santa Monica, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.

September 27

• No significant incidents.

September 28

• An adult Avalon resident reported being the victim of a battery at the hands of another adult Avalon resident.

September 29

• No significant incidents.

September 30

• At 3:30 p.m., Katherine Del Rio, 26, a resident of Granada Hills, was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances.
