Sheriff’s Log: Oct. 16-21

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Oct. 16 to Oct. 21.

Doug Fetteroll, commander of the Station.

October 16

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Oct. 16 to Oct. 21.

October 16

• At 8 a.m., Douglas Herich, M/53, a visitor to the island, was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant.

• Deputies assisted the owner of a residence in the 200 block of Catalina Avenue with an eviction.

• Detectives furthered a theft investigation by serving a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Whitley Avenue.

• At 8:10 p.m., Katherine Turner, F/37, a resident of La Habra, was placed under private person’s arrest for disturbing the peace of others.    

October 17

• No significant incidents.

October 18

• Two adults were cited at the Casino for possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana.

October 19

• No significant incidents.

October 20

• At 10:57 p.m., Alison York, F/36, a resident of Solana Beach, was arrested for drunk in public.  

October 21

• At 2:45 a.m., Ethan Donahue, M/28, a resident of Fairfield, was arrested for an assault related charge.

• A traffic accident occurred in the 100 block of Metropole Avenue.  An adult Avalon resident was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. He was air-lifted to a mainland hospital for treatment of his injuries.

• A golf cart cover was reportedly stolen from the 300 block of Sumner Avenue.       

Golf Carts

One golf cart was reported stolen from the 100 block of Sumner Avenue.  It was found the next day at Descanso Beach. Anyone with information regarding the taking of another person’s golf cart, without their permission, is encouraged to notify the detectives at the Avalon Sheriff’s Station. Under California Law, it is a felony to “Joyride” and prosecution will be sought.

Youth Activities League

Avalon Station’s Youth Activities League working together with CHOICES has made arrangements for Preston Pollard, a professional skateboarder from Alaska, to return to Catalina Island on Octo. 30.  He will speak with the youth in the community during Red-Ribbon Week about making good choices and staying drug-free.  His visit is being sponsored by Catalina Island Vacation Rentals and Santa Catalina Island Resort Services.
