• A golf cart was vandalized in the 300 block of Sumner Avenue.
October 4
• At 3 a.m., Jesus Berumen, M/32, a resident of Covina, was arrested at Two Harbors for Drunk in Public.
October 5
• At 12:25 a.m., Lacey Rocha, F/24, a resident of Lake Tahoe, was arrested at Two Harbors for interfering with a peace officer in the performance of his duties and drunk in public.
• At 12:45 a.m., Shawn McComb, M/34, a resident of Westchester, was arrested at Two Harbors for interfering with a peace officer in the performance of his duties and drunk in public.
• Personal items were reported stolen from an unattended golf cart parked near City Park.
October 6
• Personal items were reported stolen from an unattended golf cart parked in the 300 block of Metropole Avenue.
• Four video games were reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of Metropole Avenue.
October 7
• At 3:05 p.m., Audrey Carlson, F/32, a resident of Redwood City, was arrested at Two Harbors for begging and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• At 7:30 p.m., station detectives conducted a probation search at Pebbly Road.
They recovered stolen property from two recent thefts and arrested Jerry Tejeda, M/18, an Avalon resident, for receiving stolen property.
October 8
• Deputies assisted the Coast Guard in the search for a possible missing diver on San Clemente Island.
Public Safety Notices
• Two minor golf cart accidents involving visitors to the island occurred this week.
• Avalon residents are reminded to remain extra vigilant as visitors are commonly distracted when sightseeing in Avalon.
• To enhance everyone’s safety, deputies are more strictly enforcing the traffic laws pertaining to driving while texting or talking on a cell phone.
Golf carts
Two golf carts were reported stolen this week. Both carts were recovered by the owners.
Anyone with suspect information regarding the taking of another person’s golf cart, without their permission, is encouraged to notify the detectives at the Avalon Sheriff’s Station. Under California Law, it is a felony to “Joyride” and prosecution will be sought.
