Editor’s note:
The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Nov. 11 to Nov. 17, 2020.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.
November 11
• A deputy was driving on Metropole Avenue at Crescent Avenue when he saw an apparent intoxicated man holding an open beer bottle and directing traffic.
Deputies contacted the man and placed him under arrest for suspicion of being drunk in public.
November 12
• Deputies received a call regarding a man that was causing a disturbance at the Vons market.
The man was yelling at customers while in line. Deputies contacted the man who agreed to leave the business.
November 13
• Deputies received a call of a missing person. A family member reported Carlos “Charlie” Carrasco, 40 year old, missing. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Mr. Carrasco, please contact the Avalon Sheriff’s Station.
November 14
• Deputies were called to the Catalina Express regarding found narcotics. Catalina Express personnel were cleaning the boat for the next trip when they found what appeared to be cocaine that was left behind.
Deputies took possession of the cocaine.
November 15
• Deputies received a call in the 300 block of Sumner Avenue regarding an open door to a residence and no one appeared to be home.
Deputies checked the residence and did not see any evidence of a crime. Deputies secured the door.
November 16
• Deputies responded to a domestic violence call on a boat in Avalon Harbor where one person possibly went overboard. The Avalon Harbor Department and LA County Baywatch also responded.
Deputies learned no one had jumped overboard and the two were only arguing. No crimes were committed.
November 17
• Deputies responded to Mt. Ada regarding people drinking alcohol and playing loud music at the overlook “Cross.”
The party goers had left the area prior to the deputies’ arrival. There was no trash left behind.
Safety Note
Please do not feed the deer. It is illegal. Decades of research has clearly shown that feeding leads to increased disease risk, long-term habitat destruction, increased vehicle collisions, and alteration of other deer behavioral patterns.
