  • Deputies were contacted at the station by a resident who stated they were being harassed by a homeless male. The deputies knew exactly who the man was and contacted him. They reminded him that he was a guest on the island and his behavior would not be tolerated. The man was apologetic and told the deputies he would stay off their radar.
  • Deputies responded to a possible domestic violence on Crescent Avenue. A man and woman were detained and it was determined no crime had been committed. The woman had been drinking and her boyfriend was trying to watch over her. The couple left and the man said he would watch over his lady.
  • Approximately 2 hours after the possible domestic violence call, deputies received a disturbance call at the Mole involving a female who was drunk. As soon as deputies arrived, they recognized the disturbing party as the woman from the domestic violence call. The boyfriend was no longer able to care for his girlfriend and it appeared she continued drinking after the earlier contact. The victim provided deputies with video surveillance footage and the deputies located the crook. They contacted the man who at first denied the allegations until he was shown the video surveillance. Sticky fingers returned to the store and paid for the stolen hoodie. Good video and good employees were the key.

Safety note

Avalon Station will be conducting traffic enforcement using a newly acquired Radar/Lidar Device. The device is similar to a radar gun and will capture the speed of drivers. The posted speed limit in Avalon is 20 MPH. Please slow down and stay safe. Our goal is not to issue citations but to slow drivers down both in vehicles and on E-Bikes.
